Description: AFM ER317L is used to weld 316 and 317 base metals. Low carbon (0.03 percent
max.) in AFM ER317L reduces the possibility of intergranular carbide
precipitation. This increases the resistance to intergranular corrosion without
the use of stabilizers such as columbium (niobium) or titanium. AFM ER317L,
however, may not be as strong at elevated temperature as the columbium
(niobium)-stabilized alloys or Type 317.
